What better way to begin Women’s History Month than by building something new, by and for women of color?

Today, I am honored to introduce the new FIERCE by mitú Substack. We have created a space where the voices of women of color stand at the center, where our perspectives receive the care and depth they deserve, and where our community can gather with intention.

FIERCE has lived many lives; it has carried different visions. Yet, this chapter feels distinct. It feels sharp, deliberate, and culturally grounded in a way that reflects the clarity Miranda Montenegro, our new brand lead, brings to the platform. Her vision is our Northern Star in this new era.

If you are street-smart, grounded, slightly intimidating, and unapologetically iconic, this space was built with you in mind.

At a moment when our rights face scrutiny and when the value and labor of women of color continue to be questioned, we chose to respond by creating. We chose to build something beautiful and durable.

Over the past several weeks, we asked you what you want from a platform like FIERCE, and you answered directly. You told us what resonates. You told us what feels urgent. You told us what feels frivolous in the best possible way, and we listened carefully. This Substack reflects that conversation.

Publishing has shifted rapidly. Access to information grows increasingly fragmented, and social platforms shape how we encounter stories. At the same time, women of color remain the most educated demographic in the country. Curiosity guides us. We seek depth, and we refuse to stop at headlines.

There is also something intimate about the inbox. A social media “like” can feel exposed or fleeting. An email subscription creates privacy and gives us time. It allows you to read, reflect, and return when you choose.

Our new site is free to subscribe to. You will receive the stories you care about most, whether that is beauty, fashion, personal perspectives, cultural commentary, or the stories of the women of color who keep the world moving.

Substack offers what we value deeply: a discussion table. A place where we can speak openly about what affects us, what inspires us, and yes, even the chisme that keeps us sane when the world feels heavy. We want conversation. We want honesty. We want growth. We want to surface the stories that challenge us, steady us, and remind us of our collective power.
